system slow performance

November 30, 2007

Say your laptop/desktop computer is running Über slow.. yung parang after 10,000 years pa bago magboot.. Aba, if that's the issue, matulog ka muna. Pag gising mo, nakapasok ka na ng Windows! :P Just kidding.. :D

I'm afraid that the following troubleshooting steps would only be applicable to some operating systems i.e. Windows Vista and Windows XP. (Sorry, di na kaya ng brain ko na magstore ng unimportant t/s steps for older OS)

WINDOWS VISTA

  1. Boot to safe mode (You can do this by pressing F8 at the manufacturer's logo. BTW, if there's no mouse, use the arrow keys and ENTER to make your selection)

  2. Check if you're having the same problem there and do the following:

    • if you are, it's a possible HW issue. Have your memory and HD checked. No need to proceed to Step 3 obviously. :P

    • if you aren't, then go to Start>Start/Search>type MSCONFIG>under General, click on Selective Startup, uncheck Load Startup Items>Apply>OK

  3. Restart the computer.

WINDOWS XP

    • if you aren't, then go to Start>Run>MSCONFIG>under General, set it to Selective Startup, uncheck first two (2) boxes and uncheck Load Startup Items.>Apply>Close

  3.  Restart the computer.

Easy?

LG Phone Battery Explosion Kills Korean

November 29, 2007

Saw this on the news… SCARRYYY!!!

In the first such case in Korea, a 33-year-old man was found dead on Wednesday, presumably killed by a cell phone battery explosion, police said. The cell phone was the product of a LG Electronics.

The man, identified only by his family name, Sur, was found dead by his coworkers at a quarry in North Chungcheong Province where he was employed as a shovel operator, according to the police.

"When I was going up the stony hill to set dynamite, I found a man lying down beside an electronic shovel," said a coworker identified as Kwon. "He was already bleeding from the nose. He had a mobile phone with a melted battery in his left shirt pocket. His shirt had soot on it in the shape of the phone." Prof. Kim Hoon at Chungbuk National University, who examined the body, presumed the death was caused by a phone battery explosion.

"He was injured in the left side of his chest. His ribs and spine were broken. The explosion punctured his heart and lungs, leading to his death," Kim said.

Sur's family and coworkers said he had no chronic diseases.

The death marks the first time that a person has been killed by a cell phone battery explosion in South Korea. In June, Chinese media reported that a person was killed by a mobile phone explosion in China.

the sd card is not formatted.

I never thought that this would happen to me, EVER! But it DID!!! My iPaq has a 1GB SD card and it was nearly full. I think I had about 100MB of free space left on it. It was full of files: my ebooks, my wares (short for softwares), my cab files, mp3s, games.. everything! I used to think of my iPaq as my mini-entertainment system. :D But Murphy's Law di ba?

Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way - Murphy's Law

So, it did!!! I use a POPCOM SD card reader and it has been with me eversince I got my phone which is what - a year ago. Mikee and I were trying to install Windows XP Pro on my laptop and I've downloaded the drivers on my SD card. I had to leave my laptop with Mikee because I had work at that time. I got to work and then I received a text message from Mikee saying that my SD card is not being detected by my laptop anymore! HUHUHU!!! Sabi ko kay Mikee, just plug it to your computer and see if it will be detected. If it can be detected, just copy and paste everything to a single folder in Mikee's so that I can reformat the damn card later. But even Mikee's computer was not able to detect it!

Now, you may want to try this. It worked for me. I was only able to recover some of my files though. Not all of them. It's not able to recover .LIT files (MS Reader files) and other ebook formats. It's called POWER DATA RECOVERY.

all i want for christmas…

Due to budget constraints, I would settle for an XDA Atom.. but this is what I would really like!!! Kahit di na ako magka-boyfriend!!! Ibili nyo ko ng ganito!!!! WAAHHHHHH!!!! I'll be your slave forever!! HAHAHA! Just kidding!

It's the HTC TyTN II! Whoohoo!!! This was released last July 2007 and both has HSPDA, wifi, and 3G capabilities!! Yey! And a big bonus, a GPS receiver! So, in case na mawala ka you could always use this! Works for any country!!

It's running also on WM6 (the latest, I might add) and has a 3.15 MP primary camera, 2048×1536 pixels, autofocus, video; secondary VGA videocall camera. :D Ang galing-galing!!!

Full specs of the phone can be seen HERE.

But it only has a 400MHz processor so it may be a bit slow.. Pero since di pa ako nakakahawak nito, I really could not guarantee anything. :D So, if anybody out there has this HTC TyTN II phone, feel free to drop your comments! Teka, tama ba sentence construction ko? :P

This was just released October 2007 in Malaysia currently around RM 3200 - 3280. That's PhP 40k-42k. But lowest price in stores (Malaysia) is RM 2, 699 according to THIS. That is equivalent to PhP 34288.01!!! Mas mahal pa sya kesa sa laptop ko!!!
