sige.. lahat na lang disposable!
December 8, 2007Sige.. lahat na lang disposable. Pati cellphone!
Hop-on Inc., the US affordable mobile phones manufacturer, revealed its latest creation, the HOP1900 handset, said to be a disposable cell phone for children, teens and seniors. Also called "The Graffiti", the handset comes for the price of $50.00, free of contract.
As presented on the Hop-on website, HOP1900 is a Tri-mode 1900MHz CDMA phone that measures 112 x 46 x 17 millimeters, has a standard Li-Ion 720 mAh battery and can provide up to 3 hours of talk time as well as a standby time of 240 hours. Well, that's good for a disposable device. Furthermore, the disposable handset has a Phone Book that can store 100 entries, speed-dial features (up to 90 locations), 12 ring tones, an embedded antenna, it is TTY compatible (helping the hearing impaired) and has an optional GPS module - for those in need of location-based services. Well, that's also good.
What I didn't mention is the kind of display the phone has. And here comes the stunning feature: HOP1900 doesn't have any kind of display! Or at least that's what its website says and that's what we can see in the phone's pictures. Now, how can a user, a normal user, rely on a mobile phone that lacks a display? And how could a teenager since the phone is targeted for them too can be happy with such a device when all teens want from a mobile phone is SMS, MMS, music and games? I can't really answer these questions.
The Hop-on website says the Graffiti phone was sold-out in "15-20" Walgreens stores, in just a few hours. Quite confusing info, considering the fact that the device is said to work on Verizon Wireless' Open Network that is not launched and will not be until the second half of 2008. So then, who and why bought the phones in such a rush?… Maybe Santa did, to give them as Christmas presents, reckoning they're toys and thinking 50 bucks is not much for all those buttons the device has.
Too bad I don't live in the US, because I'd go right away to a Walgreens store and buy the phone, to see it, touch it and talk on it. That is, if I manage to dial any number… because I'm not used to dialing without seeing what I'm typing. And I believe no one is.
I don't really know if we should take this phone as a serious product or not. The web is full of specifications about it, but no one actually tried the phone to say it exists. Santa, can you enlighten us?
Pero pwera biro, totoo sya!! I went into Hop-On's website and it does feature this HOP1900! But I don't think na papatok ito sa Pinas kasi WALANG LCD! Mahilig pa namang magtext ang mga Pinoy.. You can check the website from HERE.

December 7, 2007Gadgets are getting smaller and smaller every day.. Ako na lang ata di lumalaki eh.. Oops.. Teka nga pala, di nga pala ako gadget.
Anyways, every tech blog/site I go to is currently featuring the Asus Eee PC, the low-cost compact notebook from Asus. It's being sold for as little as Php17,000. Para na rin akong bumili ng PDA phone nito.. Medyo naiinis na nga ako eh kasi puro Asus na lang nakikita ko. Hmp! Kidding..
Even in eBay, puro Asus na rin!
So etong sa yo!

I was supposed to post this some time back in my other blog pero tinatamad lang talaga ako. I found my office mate, Airish, browsing this cutie website..
It's called www.i-dressup.com. :D
At syempre, ang purpose ng website na ito ay to dress up yourself!
You can create anime-like characters or 3D characters.
You can change hair styles, hair color, even put make-up.
BTW, this is not only for girls, but guys can join in too!
Yung mga metrosexuals dyan, taas ng kamay!
You can also play their dressup games.
You'd need to sign up for an account though..
ebooks and more ebooks..
December 5, 2007Ebooks or e-books stands for electronic books, the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book. Such documents are either read on personal computers, or on dedicated hardware devices known as e-book devices or e-book readers (according to Wikipedia)
There are a lot of ebook readers out there and each of them support a different ebook format. Ebooks can be read either on a personal computer or on a PALM or Pocket PC. I won't go into detail about PALM ebook readers (mainly because I don't own one and it is my personal opinion na napaka-UN-user-friendly ng software na yun).
Below is the list of ebook readers that I have installed on my Pocket PC.
(1) Microsoft Reader - capable of reading only (.LIT) file formats.
You can download this for free from Microsoft's website. You can also convert any word document that you have into a .LIT file by downloading and installing a converter (for free) from Microsoft's website.
(2) Adobe Reader - syempre, (.PDF) lang ang mababasa nito. It can again be downloaded for free from Adobe's website.
(3) Mobipocket Reader - this supports (.PRC, .PDB, .CHM, .HTML, .TXT) file formats. You can download this for free from Mobipocket's website.
(4) iSilo - this is also a document reader which will be able to read PALM documents (.PRC, .PDB) and (.TXT) file formats. You can download the trial version which you can use for an unlimited amount of time with limited functionality or purchase the full version.
(5) Repligo - supports (.RGO) file formats. From Cerience Corporation, the viewer can be downloaded for free.
You can download ebooks from a lot of sources i.e. Limewire, www.4shared.com, www.esnips.com, and www.ppcwarez.org
SURVEY FOR THE DAY:
How to Downgrade to Windows XP
This post is all for you people out there whose computers came preinstalled with Windows Vista, at sa mga nababanas na din na gumamit ng Vista because it's too slow or para sa mga hindi marunong gumamit ng Vista. WHAHAHA! (I'm running on XP Pro. Woohoo!!!) Kidding..
Anyways, before you do a downgrade, kindly considering the following:
(1) Downgrading to a different operating system aside from the ones preinstalled will usually result in getting limited tech support for software issues so don't go calling your manufacturer after doing this. Downgrading your OS will be at your own risk!
(2) Before doing a downgrade, make sure that XP drivers are available from your manufacturer's website. If it's not available, I'm sorry. You'll not be able to do a downgrade. If they're not available, try calling your computer manufacturer to check if they'll be posting some soon or what. (Baka pa lang magkaroon ng himala..)
(3) Make sure that you have the recovery CDs or installation CDs that came with the notebook. There are also computers that would allow you to make your own recovery/installation discs so make sure that you create them first before proceeding.
(4) Download all pertinent drivers from your manufacturer's support site. If your computer came with a SATA hard drive, check if they have any SATA drivers. You may need to use a USB floppy disk drive in order for you to install the SATA drivers.
(5) Make sure that you have a Windows XP CD. (Syempre, magda-downgrade ka tapos wala kang XP CD?!)
STEPS
-
Boot to the XP CD. Press F12 for the boot menu at the manufacturer's logo.
-
It will start to load. If it prompts you that you are unable to continue because your HDD is not detected, you would need to install SATA drivers. Follow this to install SATA drivers.
-
If you're a newbie at this, click HERE for a step-by-step guide on how to install it. If you're a bit technically inclined, click HERE .
-
Once you're done installing Windows XP, you'd need to load the drivers in this order:
-
Chipset driver/utility
-
Graphic/Display drivers
-
Audio/Sound drivers
-
LAN drivers
-
WLAN drivers
-
Modem drivers
-
-
Once these are installed, notebook should function properly. If there are any utilities from manufacturer that you'd need to install, you can install it.
-
Before going online, make sure that you have an AV (anti-virus) software installed first. Recommended would be either AVG or ZoneAlarm Internet Security (already includeds Kaspersky AV) or McAfee.
