being my techie self..

unable to download from a link, you say?

June 18, 2008

I’ve made a game review of CrazyKart yesterday. I’ve also sent a link of my blog post to LevelUp’s feedback team. And you know what happened? I opened up my Yahoo! Mail and I got this email from somebody asking me for if I know another link for the closed beta download.

Err…

Dudes and dudettes, I am not part of LevelUp’s support team. I will not be able to provide you with another link. The link that you’re having a problem with, is the same link I got from LevelUp.

Now, for all you newbies and with those with little or NO computer knowledge at all, if you have a problem with a link that was provided by somebody else, kindly contact that somebody or the vendor.

Now, here’s some troubleshooting steps in the meantime if you’re having problems downloading from a link.

(1) Try to clear browsing history.

For Internet Explorer version 6:

Go to Control Panel>Internet Options>General Tab>Under the heading Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Cookies, Delete Files (make sure that you put a check mark on Delete All Offline Content)>then after that, under the History heading, click on Clear History>Click OK.

For Internet Explorer version 7:

Go to Control Panel>Internet Options>General Tab>Click on Delete Browsing History>Click on Delete All (Also click on to select Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons)>Click OK.

(2) Try a different browser like Mozilla Firefox or Opera.

(3) Contact webmaster of site or software vendor as a last resort.

=========

I wrote this while I was at work. Got home. Had some interesting things going on. Very interesting things… So interesting that I lost sleep about it.  (Check out the game review!)

Well, updates on post.

This somebody who was emailing for assistance on the game was a guy. He was actually already way ahead of me. He’d already used a couple of browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Safari (I haven’t even heard of this one!), K-ninja (this too!) as well as Internet Explorer and he’s still unable to download the game.

I’ve advised this person already numerous times to contact the webmaster of the site but he claims that they were not answering his emails/inquiries. He also said he’s got the usernames and passwords and everything but still unable to download the link.

I asked if he’s from the Philippines (broken English on email and all that) and he said NO. He was actually from Vietnam.

I had my friend using another computer and a different connection as well as provider try to download the game and he was able to do it.

I told the guy that it’s possible that the game can only be downloaded if you’re within the country. I meant that the CBT was made for the Philippines, so I would assume that only Philippine players would be able to download it (again, operating word is assume, since I don’t know what’s going on with their site).

Oh well, at least it made sense to me and to him as well.  Too bad, he really wanted to try out the game.. ^.^
